Each 1000gm contains:
Tylosin 150gm
Chlortetracycline hydrochloride 125gm
Properties:
Tylosin is a macrolide bacteriostatic antibiotic related to erythromycin , it binds to 50S ribosome and inhibits protein synthesis , tylosin inhibits a similar spectrum of erythromycin activity such as gram +ve cocci (Staphylococci ,Streptococci), gram+ve bacilli (Bacillus anthracis , Corynebacterium ,Clostridium spp., ( not C.difficile), Listeria ) , some strains of –ve bacilli including Heamophilus, Pasturella and Brucella. And also some strains of Actinomycis, Mycoplasma.Chlamydia,Ureaplasma and Richettsia .
Chlotetracycline is a tetracycline bacteriostatic antibiotic , it acts by inhibiting protein synthesis by reversibly binding to 30S ribosomal subunit of susceptible organisms thereby preventing binding to those ribosomes of aminoacyl transfer-RNA.
Chlotetracycline is effective against gram +ve bacteria such as some strains of Staphylococcus and Streptococcus ,Actinomyces spp., Bacillus anthracis , Clostridium perfringens and tetani, Listeria monocytogenes and Nocardia , gram –ve bacteria such as most Mycoplasma spp., , Spirochetes ,Chlamydia, Rickettsia, Bordetella spp., Brucella ,Bartonella, Heamophilus spp., Pasturella multocida ,Shigella and Yersinia pestis.
The combination of tylosin and chlortetracycline enhances the effect of chlortetracycline .
The combination conceder as synergistic antibiotic compositions for therapeutic treatment of diseases .
Tylosin used simultaneously with chlortetracycline in treating suspected poly microbial infections , where a boarder coverage may be needed.
