Composition :
Each 1 gm Contains: –
Gentamicin sulfate …………….401.744 mg (Eq. to 333.3 mg gentamicin base)
Properties :
Gentamicin is one of Aminoglycosides . It is bactericidal and active against Gram-negative organisms and some Gram- positive organisms but not streptococci. It also active against pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Aminoglycosides are taken up into bacteria by oxygen- dependant process and are therefore inactive against anaerobic bacteria.
A aminoglycosides are not absorbed from gastrointestinal tract following oral administration . Therefore this rout is used for treatment of gastro intestinal infection and hepatic encephalopathy.
Indications :
Swine (weanling)
For control and treatment of colibacillosis caused by strains of E. coli sensitive to gentamicin.
Swine :: For control and treatment of swine dysentery associated with
Treponema hyodysenteriae

Dosage & administration :
Dose of active:
Swine (weanling)
25 milligrams of gentamicin base per gallon of drinking water for
3 consecutive days, to provide 0.5 milligram per pound of body weight per day

50 milligrams of gentamicin per gallon of drinking water for
3 consecutive days, to provide 1 milligram per pound of body weight per day.
For whole product :
Swine (weanling):
19.8 mg/ 1liter of drinking water for 3 consecutive days.

39.6 mg / 1liter of drinking water for 3 consecutive days.
Adverse effects:
Gentamicin is ototoxicity and nephrotoxicity when used for long periods of time .
Contra-indications:
Pregnant animals, concurrent use of other drugs that may induce ototoxicity or nephrotoxicity.
Warnings and precautions: . Care in renal impairment
Withdrawal time :
Do not slaughter treated swine for food for at least 10 days
