Composition:
Each 100 gm contains:
Doxycycline base 20 gm (Eq. to Doxycycline hyclate 23.1 gm)
Properties:
Doxycycline is one derivatives of tetracycline antibiotic. It is a broad spectrum antibiotic .. It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis intracellularly by binding on the 30-S ribosome subunits. This interferes with binding of aminoacetyl-tRNA to the acceptor site on the mRNA ribosome complex and prevents coupling of amino acids to the elongating peptide chains.
Doxycycline inhibits bacteria, Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, Rickettsia, and certain Protozoa.
Indication:
Treatment of infectious diseases of the respiratory tract and the alimentary tract caused by micro-organisms susceptible to doxycycline
-Cattle (Pre-ruminant calves):
– Bronchopneumonia and pleuropneumonia caused by Pasteurella spp., Streptococcus spp., Trueperella pyogenes, Histophilus somni and Mycoplasma spp.
Chickens (broilers):
– Infections of the respiratory tract caused by Mycoplasma spp., Escherichia coli, Haemophilus paragallinarum and Bordetella avium;
– Enteritis caused by Clostridium perfringens and Clostridium colinum.
Target Species:
Cattle (pre-ruminant calves), chickens (Broilers)
Dosage and Administration:
To be administered orally through the drinking water or milk replacer.
Dose of active:
Cattle (Pre-ruminant calves): for use in milk replacer
10 mg doxycycline hyclate /kg body weight / day for 3-5 consecutive days, divided over 2 administrations.
Chickens (broilers): for use in drinking water
25 mg doxycycline hyclate /kg body weight / day for 3-5 consecutive days.
Dose for whole product:
Cattle (Pre-ruminant calves:
43.3 mg / kg body weight / day for 3-5 consecutive days, divided over 2 administrations
Chickens (broilers):
= (1.08 gm/10 kg )
10 kg drink 1 liter of drinking water
Dose per liter = 1.08 gm / liter
1.08 gm/10 kg body weight (1.08 gm /liter drinking water ) day for 3-5 consecutive days
Warning & precautions:
Not authorized for use in laying birds producing eggs for human consumption
Not authorized for use in dairy animals
Contraindication:
Do not use in cases of known hypersensitivity to tetracyclines
Do not administer to animals with severe liver- or kidney insufficiency.
Withdrawal time:
Cattle (Pre-ruminant calves):: 7 days
Broiler chicken : 10 days
Storage condition:
- In dry and cool place at temperature not exceeding 30˚C.
